Milestone of San Mateo at 71
San Mateo, Isabela, celebrated on March 16-18, 2017 its 71st Founding Anniversary with a big bang .
For 71 years now, the townspeople and their past and present officials had been celebrating the founding anniversary of the town so merrily. It was the first time in the history of this municipality that all those who served as mayors from the time San Mateo was created up to the present time were given recognition for the legacy they had shared in making this humble town a better place to live in.
At the Ecumenical Service of the anniversary celebration, Mayor Crispina R. Agcaoili, M.D. inferred that the good Lord has been so good to all San Mateonians. The countless favors He has bestowed to this community are incomparable presents. Offering thanksgiving to the Almighty was then held last March 12, 2017 in the different churches in town as an expression of gratefulness for San Mateo, Isabela’s 71 years of existence.
Concomitant to the commemoration of the town’s founding anniversary was the Women’s Month celebration. Giving recognition to the significant contributions of the women sector in the development of this community can certainly inspire them to work harder and labor solider. Part of the lined up activities for them were the Women to Women Talk, Alay Sa Kababaihan – free FBS, BP, Cholesterol, ECG, Dental, Optical and Breast Exam. Libreng Gupit kay Nanay, Health Awareness Seminar, Search for Mrs. LCW 2017 and Search for Ulirang Ina 2017 were also conducted.
A parade around the town and the Mass Demonstration participated in by some chosen learners signaled the triumph of the entire populace as they gathered together for this significant episode in the history of this municipality. These were immediately followed by the Drum and Lyre Competition for both the Elementary and Secondary Departments. Learners from different schools also enjoyed the Libreng Gupit and the Palaro ng Lahi.
High school students from public and private schools merged in the Search for Mr. and Ms. Ambassador 2017. The awarding of The Outstanding Citizens of San Mateo, Isabela and The Outstanding Students of San Mateo, Isabela as role models in their own arena can certainly boost one’s spirit. Likewise, the awarding of the Ecological Solid Waste Management implementers can serve as a stimulus for all barangays and schools to fully implement the LGU’s many programs and projects for Republic Act 9003.
The highlights of this year’s merriment was the conduct of Recognition to all the former mayors and the present as well for bringing San Mateo to where it is now, a small flourishing town from the North and now being recognized as one of the best municipalities in local governance in the entire country.
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
